2009-10 Faculty Conference Travel Grant applications due December 4.

Domestic and international conference grants to support the professional development of EUC-affiliated faculty members. Applications for the 2009-10 academic year must be submitted by December 4, 2009.

Teacher Orientation for Eurochallenge 2010 on November 20th.

Euro Challenge 2010 is an exciting educational opportunity for high schools students (grades 9 & 10) to learn about the European Union (EU) – the largest trading partner of the US – and its single currency, the euro. Now in its fifth year, the Euro Challenge is designed to appeal to students with a background in global studies, economics, world history/geography or European studies.

Remembering 1989: The Fall of the Berlin Wall faculty panel discussion is November 9th.

The European Union Center and and the Russian, East European and Eurasian Center have convened a panel of University of Illinois faculty to discuss this historically significant event with the perspsective gained from the passage of twenty years.

A New RSO: Europa Club

Join Europa Club!
Global Studies Major? International Student? Just someone interested in or from Europe? Join Europa Club, an exciting new organization (which looks good on resumes!) where we will watch movies, learn new languages, play games, and talk about contemporary European affairs. Additional ideas are welcome! FIRST MEETING: Thursday October 8, 5:30-7:00pm, Lucy Ellis Lounge, FLB. We will organize leadership positions and create a basic plan of events for the year. Food will be provided. For questions and comments contact bell16@illinois.edu. You are welcome to stay and watch the movie “Three Colors: White” (“Trois Couleurs: Blanc”, “Trzy Kolory: Bialy”) after the meeting.
